This kugel was taught to me by a friend years ago, and she coined it the “Crown Heights Kugel” because it was popular dish in Crown Heights during Yom Tov
5 large potatoes
1 large onion
1 cp flour
1/2 cup oil
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
4 eggs
Peel and chop potatoes into quarters. Boil until soft. Drain water. Mash. Dice onion into fine pieces. Sauté in 1/2 cup oil. Add to potatoes. Add eggs, flour, baking powder and salt and pepper. Stir with strong spoon until smooth Pour into greased 9×11 pan. Smooth out. Top with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350F for 1 hour.
I love this hot and cold. Takes work, but it’s worth it.
